Faith is the key to spiritual growth and requires a deep and personal connection with God. He wants to be the head of our hearts, king of our souls, and guide to our spirits. By allowing Him free reign in these areas we create an opportunity for lasting intimacy with the Creator. From intimacy comes confidence – in Him and in us. Here are six ways I increase my faith and confidence. You might also find them helpful.
There is one God the Creator: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ the Son of God; we believe in His virgin birth, in his sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His abiding intercession and in His imminent return.
In the person and work of the Holy Spirit with His fruits and gifts abiding in the Church.
The Bible is the living word of God – infallible, authoritative and everlasting, and the foundation of all Christian doctrine.
In the spiritually lost condition of all people and the essential need for the “new birth” by faith in Jesus Christ.
In the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a gift available to believers subsequent to the new birth, with the normal initial evidence of speaking in other tongues.
In the sacraments of the Lord’s Supper and baptism by full immersion in water for all believers.
In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.
In the church being the body of Christ, and each member being an active part of a local church, fulfilling the Great Commission.
God has called us to be a house of prayer. When we get together, unified in prayer, we are able to see the future of our church and we order our steps accordingly. We listen and we step out in boldness to accomplish what God has called us to do. Our church is built on prayer.
As a New Testament Church, God has called us to speak to the culture that we live in, in a way that they can understand. Our music, our out reach, our style, our way of looking at ministry is relevant to the culture we live in.
God has called us to reach people, teach them about life in the kingdom of God, and empower them to fulfill their God given potential.
Bright, Positive, Fun, Relevant, Powerful! At The Rock of Greensboro, God has called us to create an environment where God can live and move and touch people’s lives. A culture full of faith, excitement, and fun. A culture where God’s word is taught, disciples are made and lives are changed.

In the simplest terms, Christian Meditation is "Being with God." It is dwelling in his presence. It is coming and sitting before God without an agenda; it is simply being with God for the mere pleasure of being with God.That sounds simple enough, right? But some thing gets in the way of us just being with God. What do you think it is? If you said "Our thoughts" you're absolutely right.
When we try to just be with God or dwell within his presences our thoughts about anything and everything begin to flood our minds. And whether these thoughts are good or bad, it keeps us from focusing solely on the Lord. So what can we do to stop or eliminate these thoughts so we can keep our focus on the Lord?
Well it is impossible to completely stop all thoughts, but what we can do is not put our attention on them. And the best way to do this is to have a sacred word or a scripture phrase to meditate on instead. This word or scripture phrase helps us to bring our attention back to God and the present moment each time our mind wanders off in thought.
Jesus said, I will keep thee in perfect peace whose mind is stayed, fixed, or meditating on me. Repeating a sacred word or scripture when our mind has wandered off in a random thought, helps us to bring our attention back to God and his presence.
What sacred word or scripture phrase can you use? The words Jesus, Lord, Savior, Love, Peace, Holy Spirit, God, Father, Creator, Trust and Faith are all rooted in the Bible. For scripture phrase you can choose all or parts of Psalms 23, The Lords prayer, Proverbs 3, etc. You will need to memorize them first. In addition to repeating your scripture word or phrase, playing soft music quietly in the background can also have a quieting effect on the mind.
Spiritual growth takes time. Not unlike any other relationship, developing an intimate and personal relationship with God requires an effort on our part. It requires us to be willing, present, and vulnerable. When we offer ourselves in this regard, and follow the steps outlined above, we mature spiritually and connect with God on deeper levels. In essence, we grow in confidence – in Him and in ourselves.
